Peter S. Kalikow

Member Biography

Peter S. Kalikow is President of H.J. Kalikow & Co. LLC, one of New York City’s leading real estate firms. He is the former Chairman of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), former Commissioner of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, past owner and publisher of the New York Post, and current Chairman of the Grand Central Partnership.

 

Mr. Kalikow began his career in real estate in 1967 and became President of H.J. Kalikow & Co. in 1973. Following his father’s death in 1982, Mr. Kalikow assumed responsibility for the Kalikow holdings. Mr. Kalikow is the third generation to preside over his family’s 82 year-old real estate company founded in 1927. Under his leadership, H.J. Kalikow & Co. has developed millions of square feet of commercial office space as well as constructed many prominent residential apartment houses in Manhattan.

 

As a leader in New York City real estate, Mr. Kalikow is an active participant in every major real estate association and serves as a Governor of the Real Estate Board of New York. In recognition of his leadership, he has received numerous real estate awards, including the Harry Helmsley Award, the Award for Excellence by the Building Owners and Managers Association of Greater New York for the development of 101 Park Avenue, and the Golden Circle Award. He previously served on the boards of the Rent Stabilization Association and was presented the Fred C. Trump Outstanding Real Estate Achievement Award by the Associated Builders and Owners of Greater New York.

 

Mr. Kalikow has a longstanding commitment to public service, and has served in a number of important roles. He served on the Board of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), the state authority which oversees the operations, planning, and financing of the New York metropolitan area’s subways, buses, commuter railroads, bridges and tunnels, and acted as MTA Chairman until October, 2007. He was also a Commissioner of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, a bi-state authority which operates the region’s three major airports, bridges, tunnels, port districts and PATH commuter rail system. Mr. Kalikow currently serves on the Board of the New York Building Congress, an association committed to promoting the growth of the construction industry in the New York metropolitan region.

 

Mr. Kalikow serves as Chairman of the Grand Central Partnership Board of Directors. The Grand Central Partnership is one of the largest and most successful Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) in New York City, comprising 76 million square feet of commercial real estate in a 70-block area. Mr. Kalikow is very familiar with the area covered by the Grand Central Partnership, as his company headquarters, 101 Park Avenue, was one of the first new office developments in the area dating back to 1982.

 

From 1988 through 1994, Mr. Kalikow was the owner of the New York Post, the oldest daily newspaper in America founded by Alexander Hamilton in 1801.

 

Mr. Kalikow is involved in many philanthropic causes. He is a Trustee of New York-Presbyterian Hospital, a member of its executive committee, and chairman of the real estate committee. In May 1977, the Peter and Mary Kalikow Pediatric Intensive Care Unit was established at New York Hospital. He is a founding trustee of the Museum of Jewish Heritage at Battery Park in New York City, has served on the board of the Jewish National Fund, and is the recipient of awards from the UJA-Federation and Anti-Defamation League of the B’nai B’rith. In 1982, he was presented with the Peace Medal, Israel’s highest civilian award, for his many years in aiding the nation’s development, including his efforts related to Israel Bonds.

 

Mr. Kalikow is a member of the Board of Trustees of Hofstra University and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Law Degree in 1986. He received Hofstra’s Alumni of the Year Award in 1988. An active student of the American Presidency, Mr. Kalikow endowed the Peter S. Kalikow Chair in Presidential Studies and created the Peter S. Kalikow Center for the Study of the American Presidency. His support was instrumental in Hofstra’s recent designation as the site of one of the three 2008 presidential debates sponsored by the Commission on Presidential Debates.

 

In November, 2008, Mr. Kalikow was honored with the Commendatore in the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, one of the highest honors bestowed by the Government of Italy. Mr. Kalikow is widely recognized as a cultural ambassador for his economic and philanthropic efforts as they relate to Italy.

 

Born in New York City, Mr. Kalikow received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Hofstra University in 1965. He is married to the former Mary Typaldos Jacobatos. They have two children, a son Nicholas Alexander and a daughter Kathryn Harold.

Michelle Adams is Senior Managing Director, Global External Relations & Business Development in the New York office of Tishman Speyer.

 

Ms. Adams oversees global external relations for Tishman Speyer, including government and community affairs as well as communications and philanthropy. She works on an array of development and acquisitions projects globally. Prior to Tishman Speyer, Ms. Adams served as the executive director of the Association for a Better New York from 2002 until 2010. Ms. Adams earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, politics and law from the State University of New York at Binghamton, and a Master of Public Administration degree in public finance and policy from the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University. She currently serves as Tishman Speyer’s representative on several influential boards, including the Executive Committees of the Real Estate Board of New York, the Grand Central Partnership, the Hudson Yards Hell’s Kitchen Alliance and the Long Island City Partnership.

Alfred C. Cerullo, III

Fred Cerullo is President/CEO of the Grand Central Partnership (GCP) and a Commissioner on the New York City Planning Commission.

 

Over the course of his career, Cerullo has been an elected and an appointed official, as well as a board member of many non-profit organizations. Cerullo began his career as Counsel to the Minority Leader of the New York City Council. He became one of the youngest ever New York City Councilmembers, winning his first of four consecutive elections to the New York City Council representing the South Shore and portions of the Mid-Island communities of Staten Island, while also holding the position of City Council Minority Leader.

 

Cerullo became one of the youngest ever New York City Commissioners when he was tapped to run the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs and later became the City Commissioner of Finance, after running both agencies simultaneously for six months.

 

Cerullo served on three New York City Mayoral Transition teams and also served on the Mayor’s Committee on Appointments. Prior to his appointment to City Planning, Cerullo was a Member of the New York City Campaign Finance Board for more than four years, having the distinction of being the first Board Member to have participated in the landmark campaign finance program.

 

Presently, Fred serves on the Boards of Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden, the Staten Island Foundation, the American Museum of Natural History Planetarium Authority, the St. George Theatre Restoration, Inc. and St. John’s University School of Law Alumni Association. He is also a Board Member of the NYC BID Association and is an active member of numerous organizations citywide.

 

Cerullo, who resides in the St. George neighborhood of Staten Island, was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Great Kills, Staten Island, and is a graduate of the New York City public school system. He received bachelor’s degrees in English and American Studies from St. John’s University. A member of the bar in New York, New Jersey, California, and Washington D.C., he earned his law degree from St. John’s University School of Law. He has received numerous awards over the years, including the St. John’s University Pietas Medal and the Alumni Outstanding Achievement Medal. He also received the President’s Medal from both St. John’s University and the City University of New York College of Staten Island. Fred has been named one of New York City’s “50 Over 50” by City & State Magazine, and also landed multiple times on the “Most Powerful People” lists for both the Borough of Manhattan, as well as the Borough of Staten Island.

 

Fred Cerullo is a member of SAG/AFTRA appearing in daytime dramas, films, movies made-for-television and cable, and has had starring roles in numerous stage productions.

Ms. Patricof joined the Corporation in February, 2013 after serving the City of New York for over 23 years.

 

She was the First Deputy Commissioner and Special Counsel for the New York City Finance Department. Before that, she served as Assistant Commissioner for Administration for the New York City Finance Department and Special Counsel to the Commissioner of the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs.

 

Ms. Patricof earned a B.S. in Journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park and a J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.

Marc Wurzel

Mr. Wurzel has served as General Counsel since 1999, and more recently as Assistant Secretary of the Corporation.

 

Before joining GCP, Mr. Wurzel served in a variety of governmental positions including Special Counsel to the Minority Leader of the New York City Council; Chief of Staff, at theNew York City Department of Consumer Affairs and Department of Finance; and Deputy Director of Communications at the New York State Department of Law.

 

Wurzel served as executive director of the Liberty Avenue Local Development Corporation in South Richmond Hill, Queens in the mid-1980′s. Named to the post at 22, Wurzel was one of the youngest persons to ever run a successful neighborhood revitalization program in New York.

 

Wurzel has served two terms as a Commissioner on the fifteen member New York City Districting Commission responsible for redrawing the boundaries of the city’s 51 council districts. He currently also serves as the New York City Council Minority Leader’s representative to the New York State Financial Control Board for New York City.

 

Mr. Wurzel earned a B.A from George Washington University and a J.D. from Hofstra University. Wurzel is admitted to practice law in New York, and before the U.S. District Court, Eastern and Southern District of New York.

Member Biography

John L. Mascialino is a shareholder in the New York office of Greenberg Traurig LLP.

 

John focuses his practice on government affairs, procurement contracts, and related real estate matters. John counsels private and publicly owned companies on state and local regulatory, legal and policy matters. He counsels clients on strategic objectives and provides advice on regulatory matters that will enhance their business opportunities in the city and state of New York. John spent several years working in the Giuliani Administration, serving as First Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS), where he was responsible for all procurement of city equipment and supplies and in charge of many city real estate assets. Prior to that, John was Counsel/Deputy Chief of Staff for the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Operations, where he assisted in the supervision of many City operational agencies, was a mayoral appointee to the Franchise Concession Review Committee, and also served as Deputy General Counsel of the Mayor’s Legislative Affairs office where he lobbied the City Council to pass the Mayor’s Legislative Agenda.

Mr. Adinolfi has served as the Controller, Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Treasurer of the Corporation since August 1999.

 

Prior to joining the team at the Grand Central Partnership in 1999, Adinolfi worked for the brokerage firm of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette for 10 years, working his way up to Assistant Vice President in Corporate Accounting. In 1988 he graduated from Dowling College on Long Island, NY with a B.B.A. in Accounting.
