Founded in the mid-1980s, GCP serves an approximately 70-block area in Midtown Manhattan stretching from 35th Street to 54th Street and from Second Avenue to Fifth Avenue. The area is home to 76 million square feet of commercial, residential and retail building space.

Our History

Midtown Manhattan property owners and businesses created the Grand Central Partnership (GCP) in the mid-1980s during a period of marked physical and economic deterioration citywide. Once in place, GCP developed a comprehensive plan to specifically revitalize the neighborhood surrounding Grand Central Terminal.

The Grand Central Business Improvement District is one of the largest business improvement districts in the world.

Our Success

GCP is frequently cited worldwide as a model for how city-centers can undergo a remarkable resurgence. A reborn neighborhood aesthetic and cleaner, safer streets have spurred private investment and driven pedestrian traffic into our Midtown Manhattan area. New life has been breathed into a central business district that was once teetering on the brink of disaster.
